March 1st - 15th Astrological Insights

Welcome to March! 

In the first weeks of March, we have a New Moon in Pisces bringing an opportunity for deep soulful renewal. A few days later Mercury enters Pisces providing a period of enhanced receptivity for cultivating more subtle states of the higher mind and refined consciousness.

Pluto Return Continues

Pluto’s return in the United States birth chart (Sibley chart) will be active through 2023 and comes in 4 waves. We are currently in the first of these 4 waves until March 10th. Pay special attention to the themes presently occurring in our national conversion during this first wave. These national issues and agendas are the dynamics that will continue to be worked on over these next couple of years, creating the changes needed in this cycle of Pluto return for the transformation in the United States. 

Globally, we see Russia’s aggression again looming largely and calling into focus the long-standing issues about the United States’ larger role in the world. Nationally, here at home, we see an ending of mask mandates as we explore our responses to this pandemic and the divisive controversies about governance and public health. While ongoing headlines are appearing about climate change, public shootings and legal cases about race and police violence, the January 6th riots, abortion access law, and the court attempts to adjudicate numerous legal controversies abound the last presidency are all appearing daily.   

The second wave will peak this summer.  The events unfolding now are foreshadowing the patterns that will emerge during the summer Pluto Return Peak. Stay tuned, I will be circling back in late June’s Newsletter to offer further reflections on this unfolding story.

Strongest 3/3/22

As we take a look at the Pluto Return energy and bring to light what needs transforming both collectively and in our personal lives, Mars will be coming into conjunction, joining its energy with Pluto during the first week of March. Having Mars in the mix creates potent, hot energy to catalyze and cook up the events that are unfolding over the long process of Pluto’s return cycle. When Mars moves into an aspect of alignment with slower-moving planets, the forces set in motion by the slower planets get activated. Mars can become a timer to trigger something to happen. In other words, when things are brewing, Mars can work to activate that energy to further its movement to open up and get it moving. A significant event may occur to initiate action on whatever process is being activated. This trigger, by Mars, of precipitating the long process of Pluto’s karmic influences to move forward can happen on many levels at once: globally, nationally, and personally. 

The strongest day of this Mars/Pluto conjunction energy is March 3rd. Therefore, if you personally have things brewing under the surface, this might be a day when an event causes things to open up for you. This could also prime the energy to push forward the narrative and unleash powerful forces in geopolitical events. 

It’s important to note that Venus is also coming up to join with both Mars and Pluto on March 3rd, which softens this energy. Therefore, it’s possible that more ease or peace can be added to whatever the situations are. Venus (along with Jupiter) is known as a “greater benefic” amongst the planets and is connected more to the beauty and loving aspects of life. Therefore, whatever might get activated, things may be able to move in a more harmonious and peaceful direction with Venus in the mix. As above, so below.  As powerful dramatic forces are moving across the world, so powerful dynamics are in motion amidst the planetary signatures. 

New Moon Pisces

On March 2nd, we will have a New Moon in Pisces. New Moons are created when the Sun joins together with the Moon in the sky under the same sign. This creates a dark night as the Moon sets in conjunction with the Sun. New Moons are considered the beginning of a 29.5 day Moon phase cycle. Therefore, one way to think of New Moons is to see it as a monthly new beginning and reset point for yourself, emphasizing the energy of the sign the Sun and Moon are in. 

Pisces is a water sign, enhancing the level of emotional sensitivities and psychic connection to those under its influence. Pisces is also considered the last sign in the zodiac round before starting over again in Aries. As it is the last sign, we can understand Pisces as holding the most evolved characteristics, getting into what it means for a soul to be living here in a physical body on this earth. What comes with the Pisces energy is an ability to feel the energy around (like a fish in the sea) and be psychically in tune with it as well as flow with it. Since there is an ability to merge with the energy around like swimming in a giant sea, Pisces can often experience a lack of boundaries between self and others. Therefore, it's important to allow this flowing feeling of life and to appropriately remain rooted in yourself as you allow for the gifts of the Piscean New Moon for dissolving the limits of our smaller sense of self.  We are so much vaster and deeper than we usually are able to be present for; our focus on daily doings tends to veil the grandeur of our interior majesty.   

This New Moon in Pisces energy is a good time to take a look at your life and see where you can bring in more flow with the energies around, and on the other side, see where you may need to create more boundaries if you’re too swept up with all the deep energies that surround you.   

Mercury enters Pisces

Speaking of Pisces - Mercury, the planet that influences our thoughts, mental processes, and communications, will be moving into Pisces on March 9th for the following 19 days. 

With Mercury in Pisces, your mind might seem less structured around how you are organizing your day during this time. There’s a need to be more in a flow than following a laid-out plan. Although making plans is essential, the ideal mental processing style with Mercury in Pisces may find you less attached to how plans are executed. Pisces reminds us to let go and allow for the way things want to flow to emerge. You may discover this way of allowing creates greater alignment for yourself with how things end up working out than the way you originally thought possible. 

In Addition, Mercury in Pisces can help your mind to receive more psychic information when it comes to making decisions. You might find yourself being able to sense what the right choice is for yourself without having all the information to know rationally why it’s the right choice.
